How a Spray Foam Project Works
From your first call to the final walkthrough — here's exactly what to expect when you insulate with Rocking Rad.
Here's how a spray foam project works with us
Every project starts with a free, no-obligation on-site estimate — we walk your property, recommend the right foam type and thickness, and give you a written quote (with 0% financing options for qualified customers). Once you accept, we schedule the work, prep and mask your space, then spray the foam to seal and insulate in one application. The foam cures within about 24 hours while we ventilate, after which we trim, clean up, and — where it applies — verify air tightness with a blower door test. We finish with a walkthrough so you know exactly what was done. Most residential jobs are completed in a day or two.
The Process, Step by Step
- 1
Free On-Site Estimate
It starts with a free, no-obligation visit. We walk your property, measure the cavity volumes, look at access, and assess what foam type and thickness your space actually needs. You get a clear scope and a written price — no pressure.
- 2
Assessment & Recommendation
On the same visit we figure out what your building is really up against — heat, cold, condensation, moisture — and recommend open cell or closed cell (or a mix) accordingly. Where it makes sense, we may suggest a blower door test or thermal imaging to verify performance.
- 3
Quote, Financing & Scheduling
You get a detailed written quote, usually same-day. We offer 0% financing options to qualified customers so a permanent upgrade doesn't have to be a large upfront cost. Once you accept, we schedule your install around your timeline.
- 4
Site Prep & Masking
On install day, our crew arrives on time and protects your space first. We cover floors, mask outlets, fixtures, and HVAC, and set up containment so there's no overspray where it doesn't belong. For attic roof-deck jobs, any old blown-in insulation is removed first.
- 5
Spray Application
We spray the foam to the specified thickness, filling every crack, gap, and cavity to create a continuous air seal. The foam expands and sets within minutes. Most residential jobs are completed in a day or two; metal buildings often finish the same day, while larger or whole-home projects can run a few days.
- 6
Cure & Ventilation
Spray foam is fully cured and inert within about 24 hours. We run ventilation fans during the cure. For attic roof-deck retrofits the HVAC stays off and the home is unoccupied during this window — we coordinate the timing with you in advance so it's as smooth as possible.
- 7
Trim, Cleanup & Inspection
Once cured, we trim any excess foam flush, remove overspray, and clean up the work area. The insulation is left inspection-ready. Where building code calls for it, we apply the required ignition or thermal barrier coating as part of the same project.
- 8
Blower Door Verification (where applicable)
On new construction — and any job where you want proof of performance — we can run a certified blower door test to measure air tightness in ACH50 and document code compliance or rebate qualification. Testing before drywall lets us catch and fix any issue while walls are still open.
- 9
Final Walkthrough
Before the crew leaves, we walk the finished work with you, confirm everything meets spec, and answer any questions. If you need documentation for inspection, a warranty, or a utility rebate, we provide it. Then you start enjoying a quieter, more comfortable, more efficient building.
